Press Release | 11/02/2021
Quebec City, November 2nd, 2021 – BioTwin is proud to introduce its new Scientific Board, which aims to regroup experts in various fields to brainstorm and offer varied inputs to guide BioTwin’s development.
The Scientific Board Members Dr. Arnaud Droit – Laval University In addition to being a professor and researcher, Dr. Droit is also a member of the board of directors of the Center for Big Data Research at Université Laval. Dr. Droit oversees several large-scale projects that address the challenges of managing massive data and extracting actionable knowledge for the life science community. He is also involved in the development of machine learning tools dedicated to clinical research and multi-omics data. Dr. Richard Sherwood – Harvard Medical School With a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Harvard, Dr. Sherwood is working on fostering methods to predict genome function and determine the fate of stem cells. He focuses on developing a predictive understanding of how transcription factors combine to regulate cell type-specific gene expression in normal and disease states. Dr. André Tchernof – Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods (INAF) Full professor at Université Laval’s School of Nutrition, Dr. Tchernof conducts research on the biology of human adipose tissue, metabolism, and response to bariatric surgery. Dr. Tchernof holds the Research Chair in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery and has published over 200 publications. Dr. Yue Li – McGill University Currently Assistant Professor and a researcher at McGill, Dr. Li holds a PhD in Computational Biology from the University of Toronto. His current research program covers three main areas involving applied machine learning in (1) healthcare and public health, (2) computational genomics, and (3) population genetics. Dr. Benoit Gosselin – Laval University Dr. Gosselin holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering, in addition to being a Full Professor and the Canada Research Chair in Smart Biomedical Microsystems at Laval University. He is Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and has received several awards, including the prestigious NSERC Brockhouse Canada Prize, and the Prix Génie Innovation of the Quebec professional engineering association OIQ. Dr. Tao Huan – The University of British Columbia Dr. Huan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of British Columbia. Having received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Alberta, his current research focuses on the synergistic development of analytical and bioinformatic methods for mass spectrometry-based metabolomics. Dr. Dajana Vuckovic – Concordia University Dr. Vuckovic is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Director of the Centre for Biological Applications of Mass Spectrometry at Concordia University.  She develops advanced LC-MS metabolomics and lipidomics methods for biofluids and tissues and new microextraction-based strategies for unstable metabolites and at-home sampling. Quotes  “I have been advising Mr. Noel (General Director & Co-Founder of BioTwin) and his team for more than a year now and have been able to see BioTwin grow tremendously. This company has a clear path ahead of it and understands which experts must join the team, either as an employee or as an advisor, and when they should be added on. I gladly joined BioTwin’s scientific board as I believe digital twins will forever change the healthcare industry and hope that my contribution will allow BioTwin and its technology to bring this change more swiftly.” – Dr. Arnaud DROIT, Scientific Advisor at BioTwin About BioTwin BioTwin harnesses AI, biomarkers, and biometrics to create a virtual human copy. These digital twins allow early detection and prediction of diseases and innumerable simulations. This technology will revolutionize the fields of wellness and healthcare by making personalized medicine a reality.
